    error code 801812C1

I have been trying for some time to download the security update 7.0.7392.0 to my Samsung Focus w/ version 1.3 firmware. The phone syncs with Zune fine and starts the update but gets stuck on step 6, rebooting the phone, and after the phone restarts a couple of times I get error 801812C1. I have followed the instructions several times to right click on my computer properties etc. and check the phone drivers but it says there are no issues or driver updates.

I know a lot of other folks with 1.3 firmware were having this issue, but it's been over a month and it seems no one has come up with a solution. I was tempted to try the Omnia 7 reboot loop solution, but according to some forums, those who have ended up with bricked phones.

Should I keep looking for a solution from Windows Phone, Samsung, or just forget about the update until I can get a new phone that is supported.

    Update a Windows Phone driver

For Samsung Omnia 7 owners: try the steps described in the following Knowledge Base article:

2547687 Samsung Omnia 7 reboot loop issue when updating phone from 7390 to 7392 in Windows Phone 7
For all other Windows Phones: a driver must be updated to resolve the issue.

A Windows Phone driver needed by the update is not installed. If you continue to receive this error, ensure that the Windows Phone driver is properly installed:

Unplug the USB cable from the phone.
Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds and then slide down to power off.
Press the Power button again to turn the phone back on.
When the phone turns on and vibrates, press and hold the Camera button until the Connect to PC screen appears. This may take a few moments.
When the Connect to PC screen appears, release the Camera button.
Reconnect your phone using the USB cable that was included with your phone.
Open the Device Manager and validate that the Windows Phone driver is installed:
Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
    Click Device Manager.
Expand Portable Devices. The model name of your phone should now be listed.

If the entry under Portable Devices indicates an issue, click and run the Microsoft Fix It solution below. This solution ensures your computer is correctly configured to receive driver updates.

    Fix this problem

    Notes

This wizard may be in English only; however, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD so that you can run it on the computer which has the problem.

If there are no issues listed under Portable Devices, press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds, then slide down to power off.
Press the Power button to restart the phone and try the update again.

If updating the driver does not fix the problem, allow the Connect to PC mode to time out and automatically restart the phone:

Unplug the USB cable from the phone.
Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds and then swipe down to power off.
Press the Power button again to turn the phone back on.
When the phone turns on and vibrates, press and hold the Camera button until the Connect to PC screen appears. This may take a few moments.
When the Connect to PC screen appears, release the Camera button. Do not connect the phone to the USB cable.
With the phone in Connect to PC mode, wait for the phone to restart on its own.
Note This may take up to 5 minutes.
After the phone restarts, try the update again.

FIXED!!!! I was having same problem with my Dell Venue Pro Cell Phone with Windows 7. After trying all the steps I found on every forum. I restarted both my phone and computer multiple times., nothing seemed to work.....I always just use the closest USB cord I can find that fits my phone. I decided to try the USB cord that came from Dell with my phone. This worked the first time. There must be certain drivers that are only found the the company specific USB cord. So I recommend trying your original OEM USB cord. Hope this helps
